US Hawks Hang Gliding Association

It was another great hang gliding day at Torrey on Monday. The prediction showed west in the afternoon, so I set up and waited ...



and waited ...



and waited ...



They say "Good things come to those who wait" ... and this day was the proof. It was a great day for launching and landing, so I took advantage of it with over 10 flights for the day!!



I'll post more pictures of yesterday's flights later, but the wind is good now (June 25th), so I'm going to fly!!

The air was so smooth (yesterday - June 24th) that I spent most of the afternoon practicing my launching and landing. I recorded 10 flights on video, but the camera ran out of memory at some point, so I missed at least two flights. It was easily a dozen overall.

What a great day for hang gliding at Torrey!!!

Today (June 25th) wasn't as good as yesterday. The wind was much more cross from the north, and there were several times when I was below the edge of the cliff looking for lift. I ended up landing on the apron with a bit of sliding and a mild "beak-in" as the nose went over.

But after nearly an hour of scratching (and being the last hang glider in the air), I was happy to end up on top.










But best of all, I met two more hang gliding pilots who signed up as members of the Torrey Hawks.
