This is something this club could start selling today and could later evolve into a larger marketshare should ushpa again raise dues 300% more than necessary.

USHPA has a tricky thing going with insurance because the clubs are "bought into it". If I showed up at Sylmar with a million dollar supplemental liability policy but no USHPA card, do you think they would let me fly?

IMO, the increase in UShPA dues/insurance costs were driven by a few who put economic profits ahead of safety.

Our economic system is based on competition. We generally keep the government out of the price-setting business because we allow the marketplace to negotiate the prices between suppliers and consumers. When we don't have competition, there is no feedback guiding the pricing and services of the monopoly. So they become unresponsive to their customers.

In fact, healthy competitor might be exactly what USHPA needs to keep them responsive ... to us!!

I was researching buying insurance from Europe. I read the Germans buy up all the insurance policies anyway maybe we should just go direct.

California/Obamacare rules block insurance companies from doing business something like 5 years if they don't signup to do business here initially.

All this regulation.

We're still a little small to be getting our own insurance, but as we grow, that will certainly be of interest.

By the way, anything anyone can do to help us grow is appreciated. It really helps when people post links to our site on the forums they visit (especially national HG forums). It would also help for more HG clubs to become chapters of the US Hawks (it's free!!).

Insurance is a numbers game, and we'll be needing numbers to make it work.
