Hi All,
Happy birthday to Otto and a salute to the 43rd anniversary of the world’s first gathering of personal flight enthusiasts. I’m out at my desert cabin today so I can’t make my annual pilgrimage to the history stone in San Miguel Park today. Every year it’s a great time to pause and let my mind drift back to that happy day in 1971 and remember the scene. Attached are a few selected photos to help with that mind picture.
The park is being renovated so I do need to check on the marker stone soon, to make sure it has not been disturbed by any of the recent work. And again a big thanks to Margie Holland for making the marker stone. It was a big help to already have the stone in hand before going to the Newport Beach city Council to request it being placed in the park.
Congratulations to Dave Cronk who just got inducted into the Hang Gliding Hall of Fame at Kittyhawk! Dave and I got to spend a couple of days together in Glen Canyon last March (not HG). It was fantastic to see and visit with him again. We will be getting together more in the future since we discovered that we both have been trekking the Utah Desert for many years. He and his wife Bobbie are now retired and living in Moab UT.
