The "Birdman" was launched in 1977. It was born as one of the corner of "surprised Japan new record." At the time of human-powered airplane hang glider type of gliders are the mainstream, first-time winning record is 82.44m memorable.

2015 note:
Kyushu University Birdman Team won the 38th Japan International Birdman Rally held on July 25-26th, 2015. The team participated in the glider category,
