Happy Thanksgiving to Everybody!

I hope everybody here has a good Thanksgiving and doesn't gain 5 pounds from eating too much!

I'd also like to say "THANKS!" to Bob K for starting the US Hawks and to all our current members for contributing to our efforts to advocate for the present and future of hang gliding.

I have a feeling that a lot more hang glider pilots would be saying "Thanks!" to the US Hawks if they truly understood what our goals are - and weren't afraid to stand up to, or walk away from the U$hPa.

By this time next year I think a good bit more HG pilots will be saying just that.

Happy Thanksgiving to you as well Scott!!!

I am also thankful to all the members of the US Hawks who have contributed their efforts to promote, protect, and serve the sport of recreational hang gliding.

After Thanksgiving I wonder if Wills Wing can make me a Condor 450?

Hope everyone had a good day yesterday.

Our oldest granddaughter did the dinner for the first time this Thanksgiving. What made it special for me is the the old "1500 foot" Escape Country HG launch site is clearly visible from her driveway. Her house in in the development that Escape Country became.

Thanksgiving was a warm (80's) crystal clear day and I spent some time, by myself, looking up at that ridge and thinking back to all of the fun days I spent flying at Escape Country and especially the time when I launched from that spot, that I'm looking at, and a well placed thermal saved me from a very bad tree landing in Bell Canyon, behind the launch ridge. Once I cleared the ridge, I headed straight for the LZ, packed up, announced to any who could hear: "that was the only flight I will make today" and headed for the beer cooler.

It's the Sunday morning after Thanksgiving and I have finally woken from the (too much) food induced coma I was in. :wtf: :lolno: I obviously hope everybody had a nice holiday and I am thankful for another year of progress for the US Hawks.

The last 10 days here in central NYS included 8" of snow and temps as low as ZERO degrees F. Today will be the second day of temps in the 40s out of those 10. I've been XC sking 4 times and snow shoeing once. Which explains some why I haven't been posting here. :( But I am thankful we've had early snow verses California's wild fire problems.
