Towered RHG ramps
There are RHG ramps and there are RHG ramps ....
some have been towered. This topic thread aims to invites robust exploration of recreational HG ramps that are towered.
=== Where might towered ramps serve well?
=== How might they be built in different circumstances? Variety?
=== What might be the precise design considerations?
===================================================
Teasing starts:
Otto built a hill.
Early 1900s some towered ramps were built for hang gliding sport meets. See in USHawks the topic thread on ramps.
Consider that many of the known ramps are tiny towers, sometimes only inches high, sometimes several feet or meters high.
But "towers" might invite "very high" considerations.
Will the RHG pilot unfold up on platform on a tower ramp? Will the wing be rigged on ground and then pulled up to launch platform?
Will launch be cliff or long-ramp? Will wind be blowing through the design or be funneled by the desig?
WHY MIGHT A TOWER BE WANTED?
===================================
Some miscellaneous teasers:
1. Instead of cutting growth and trees to clear ground, consider using trees as foundation on which to place an upper RHG ramp.
2. Maybe upper ground near slope is already clear, but access to slope is blocked by heavy growth; consider a tower back of growth line on already cleared ground as foundation; then launch above the slope's growth. No cutting of trees or growth.
3. RHG need not provide for PDMC canopies.
4. Permanent towers? Temporary towers? Mobile towers?
5. Truss towers.
6. Kite-system towers.
7. Balloon towers.
8. Extant towers converter for RHG.
9. Buildings that are extant fitted with ramp form a tower.
10. Towers atop extant buildings.
11. Turret or variable-directioned towers.
====================================
All are welcome from anywhere in the world to post ideas to develop RHG towered launch ramps.
