Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas & Happy New Year

Postby Frank Colver » Sun Dec 23, 2018 1:52 pm

Here, I’m showing Santa how it’s done without reindeer.

Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, everyone and may you have the best New Year!

Days are getting longer now!

Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas & Happy New Year

Postby wingspan33 » Tue Dec 25, 2018 10:40 am

Happy Holidays to ALL US Hawks and hang glider pilots everywhere! Ya, the Sun is staying in the sky longer and so the increasing darkness has ended. Tens of thousands of years ago (in the northern hemisphere) it was time for people to celebrate. We now know that there's nothing to worry about with days getting shorter but WHAT the HECK, we can still celebrate! The winter solstice has passed. Although winter, in my area at least, has just begun. : - (

Hey, do they call it winter in the southern hemisphere? Down under they just had their longest day of the year after all. Christmas in summer, what an idea!

I also wonder, do Australian aboriginals (and other cultures original to the mid to low southern latitudes) celebrate the Sun beginning to "return" shortly after June 21st? Hmmmmmm.

Hey, the time will change here sooner as well. So it will be later in the day, earlier in the day, compared to the west coast.

BTW - A saw the female eagle on the nest again today. Oh, and I glided down from Mossy Bank late this afternoon! It was a glide from 500'.

On my xc-skis! :shh:
