In the Beginning...

Postby Everard » Sun Nov 14, 2021 7:25 am

In the Beginning, SkyWings (BHPA magazine) May 2021

Was the emergence of modern hang gliding an evolutionary phenomenon or a singular 'big bang' event? I believe it was both, depending on what aspect you consider.

This article is a combined effort by myself, Chris Wills, Roly Lewis-Evans, Roger Middleton, and not least SkyWings editor Joe Schofield, whose own research led him to ask hard questions that led to disentangling some apparently conflicting dates and events.

Excellent article Everard!!

It's impossible to capture the history of hang gliding in a few short pages. Even Bill Liscomb's feature length film had to leave out so much. You did a fine job in the confines of the magazine format, and you've done a super job on your web site.

Thanks for sharing your work with the U.S. Hawks!!

I think about how Otto's life must of been. Can We even imagine how it must have been being otto way, way back then. I can only imagine what "Push-Back" He must had to deal with at the time. But what a ride! What an experience!

How about these pictures of ancient technology and Chris Arai's flight computer.
which Larry Tudor thought was akin to a Gravity Machine.

They look exactly the same.
Maybe the next step could be Radio Controlled Wing tip Battens, and mentioned by Rick Masters, "Temperature, and inversion "sniffer" sensors.

Check out Nassim Haramein and Danica Patrick video.

Notice the high tech battens in his wings, maybe only used when he is flying in Earth's atmosphere, and the Coolest of head gear.

It’s a crash helmet and the being ls holding a bucket
of flares is to start grass fires to generate thermals.
The tube down the being’s leg is a catheter so as to
not get the harness wet.

Scholarly historians with PhDs have been studying those relics for decades and yet they have all missed that most obvious explanation!!

My question is: Did this guy lose his hang ratings because he dropped his USHPA membership during his time in the tomb? :x
