Playing Chess, how We/I should do this

Bob with My Computer I was having such a hard time making out the different pieces. I also have thought about procuring Myself a Chess Board. That way I would be able to see each others Pieces clearly.
For the sake of having a Game move along faster. Should We send each other our move's via the Mail?

That's a great idea Chris, having a real chess board is where it's at, but if you want to get in a little practice before you play "Bad Bob",
Google lichess.org, it's a free open source chess game with all kinds of cool stuff going on, and in fact you can log in and play friends too.
I turned my 12 year old grandson Sawyer, and my cat Jake on to it

and now they both can beat me, which actually isn't all that hard.
Can I play the winner?

I have my trial scheduled for next week, so I won't be able to participate for a while. I think you guys should play via lichess.org as Craig has suggested.

I added some code to support chess here on the U.S. Hawks via Unicode, and I was pretty happy with the visual result:

 8  ♜  ♞  ♝    ♚      ♜
 7    ♞
 6
 5    ♝
 4
 3                ♘
 2
 1  ♖    ♗  ♕  ♔  ♗
  QRQNQB  Q  KKBKNKR

But it wasn't easy to use. I thought about making an easier interface with JavaScript, but I haven't found the time. So until I have some time, I think lichess.org is a good idea. Craig, do you think you could help Chris play a game with you on lichess.org?

Here is how to register a user name and then play chess, and practice with any other friend, who is also signed in to lichess.com.

Google.....lichess.com.
press,,,, "sign in".
press, ... "register", and pick your username and password.
pick,......"I am a human"'
once in go to. puzzles, learn, or watch.
then, "play with computer".
The big board is constantly adding and subtracting online players, pick one with a 15 or 20 in the time slot.
A log of all the matches you've played is kept.
Once registered, you can play any time, with anybody you choose, (get your friends to register) with no pressure, and your friends can "invite you" at any time, it's free and fun, and it is an ancient game you can learn quite well.

Here is a notation to use, and examples of moves.

and white in right corner.

If you set up your chess board, I'll set up mine, and you can email me at cmuhonen64@centurylink.net with your first move. Having a board set up somewhere so it won't be disturbed, and making your moves by text message, phone or email, this game has no time limit, and can last for days,
it's great to see the pieces set up for real.
You don't have to be over the board the whole time.

I played a game over the phone, in real time, with my grandson, and it was just like he was sitting across from me. He did play me to a draw in that first game,
and it was truly amazing.

Maybe a, lichess, US HAWKS tournament could be set up and,
take on all comers. Let's see how many usernames could be gotten. :srofl:

Here's a great movie for all times. "How about a nice game of chess"?
