"Jacked around in the sky"

Some years ago I would occasionally have to go from Orange County CA to Phoenix AZ on business. I would try to book an early flight, especially if it was in the hot time of the year. Unfortunately, I usually didn't have much time to book the flight so I would end up flying in the heat of the Arizona day on a small commuter jet.

Sometimes a nearby fellow passenger would comment about my calmness as the jet bounced around and I would be moving my coffee cup up and down as much as two feet to avoid spilling. I would always answer: "I fly hang gliders and I've been jacked around in the sky a lot more than this".

Find me a paraglider pilot who can say that and I'll definitely drink a toast to his or her luck and longevity.

Great observation Frank!

It reminds me of Rick's post with the two airline pilots.

I started flying airplanes before hang gliders, but my hang gliding made me much more comfortable in the air.
