I was trying to look up site info and every time I do it says, "website not available" or some other junk like that.

I'll be in town (Silver City) Friday and Saturday to look for a place to live, talked the old lady into letting me fly on Saturday. I was looking at trying the E side of Little Floridas, looks like it's doable with due-E to NE. From what I gathered from your responses to my last post, this might never have been done before. Anyone else wanna try it with me? Wind looks like it'll be ENE at 0800, turning due E at 1000. Should be soarable by 1000, right? TOUL is supposed to be 13K or so, and winds are moderate to stiff turning SE in the afternoon. Should be good enough for a jaunt up to Bayard/Silver.

Oh, and the main reason I posted... will I need 4WD to get to launch?

I too found the RGSA link to be, “Not Found.” I’ll have to ask Hadley Robinson about that.

The Little Florida’s Mts., is four wheel drive. Once it was a rough two wheel drive but with all the rain this summer I’m thinking the road will need much work.

If you follow the road all the way to the end on top there is a tower there.
After a walk to the east you can find an abrupt cliff launch.
It may be the shortest walk from truck to launch. (no one has launched there yet that I know of.)

East launching near the middle of the mountain may be more rounded and safer.
After you come upon an old (big) cattle tank near the left side of the road you will have to follow the road up a steep climb and at the top, very soon, watch for a hard to see turn off to the right. Take that road until it stops and that will shorten the walk to the east side.

I wouldn’t go alone myself.

Cell phone or Ham Radio (coverage up there.)
New Mexico has the best two meter linking system in the US.
With a hand held at Silver City or Deming you can talk to TX, AZ, CO.
