It just dawned on me to compare the insurance required to drive a couple thousand pound vehicle on crowded highways to the insurance required to pilot a 50 pound hang glider in the open air.

From the California DMV (https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/vehicle-registration/insurance-requirements/):

Types of Insurance

Here are the types of acceptable insurance:

Motor vehicle liability insurance policy.
Cash deposit of $35,000 with DMV.
DMV-issued self-insurance certificate.
Surety bond for $35,000 from a company licensed to do business in California.

For information regarding cash deposits or self-insurance, contact DMV Financial Responsibility Unit at (916) 657-6520.

The surety bond to drive on California highways is $35,000. So why do we talk about millions of dollars to fly a 50 pound hang glider?

Could it possibly be that More Guilty Funding is such a prostitute for cash that the Real Ripoff Retentive Grab interest alone pays out a $60,000 salary to obfuscate, deny and lie, without diluting the principal???

OK Granted, I have not been Flying that Long, I started to Fly in 1991. So I have never heard about an incident where a Pilot had to use his or Hers Insurance. Looking at Insurance being necessary for onwe to Fly a HG. Has there ever been a case where one's Insurance had to Be used?
