Hello Fellow Hawks,

I just wanted to remind everyone that the Sylmar Hang Gliding Association is holding their annual Dahlsten Cup event tomorrow (October 2nd, 2010).

Flying activities will include a spot-landing contest and a race for the Dahlsten Cup. Pilots will compete in Fun (single-surface and PG), Sport (kingposted), and Open classes. They will also be holding the Dahlsten Cup Chili Contest ... yum!

As an extra bonus, Maralys Wills will be there to autograph copies of her popular book "Higher than Eagles" which blends the Wills family's history with the early days of hang gliding. It's a great story of tragedy and triumph. I loved it.

Here's the approximate timeline for the day:

9:30 Setup
10:00 Task committee meeting
10:30 - 12:00 pilot registration
10:30 Pilot meeting
11:00 - 4:00 Drive up, fly, spot-land
1:00 Chili cookoff begins
4:00 BBQ
5:30 Awards
