tommy42,

Beautiful pictures. You guys are so lucky to have such a gem of a flying site. In your back yard?

I recognize the Cove and the Pier but there's some new roof lines  from when I flew Torrey last.

Welcome to US Hawks Forum.

Hi Sam, Blossom in this post is my usual haunt. It is about 10 minutes from my house and I enjoy the sport of working the thermal early in the day, then we usually get a nice glass-off wonder wind go off in the evening. However, most people don't seem to care much for my mountain pictures. They seem to much more prefer the scenery of the coastal pictures. One day I was flying out at Torrey and I am not sure what was going on. I kept on flying out into the Pacific Ocean and was hitting lift. I suppose the water was releasing heat out into cooler air??? I got really far out over the water and the lift kept on coming, but it was getting very alarming how far away from the coast I had gone. So I stopped going out into the water and was just turned a 90 and started cruising down the coast. Once I completed the turn and looked back at the coast I noticed that the sun was going down and the warm colors from the setting sun were so picturesque being cast on the shoreline and inland as well. This was such an extraordinary view from the vantage point of being way out and high over the water, but I did not have a camera darn-it-all. Ah-man, that was one hugely missed photo-op.

Again, real nice pictures. Thanks

There are a few more roofs at Blossom also. When I flew there last, the first house near launch was under construction, '84.

You see how bad I need to visit So. Cal. :lolno: :(

1984???    That's been 30 years!!!

Wasn't California still part of Mexico back then?

Come on out for a few weeks to thaw out!!
