Email to Torrey Hawks Members:

Quote:
Hello Fellow Hawks,

If you haven't heard the sad news, Erwin McDavid passed away recently.

Erwin was a long-time Sylmar pilot and a good friend of the Torrey Hawks. He was often both a driver and a mentor for new pilots at Sylmar and he was usually the only one left on top of the hill with myself and other new pilots. Erwin would typically wait to get all of us newbies safely in the air.

The Sylmar club (SHGA) is holding an Irish Wake for Erwin McDavid this Sunday March 17, 2013. It's a bit of a fly-in, a bit of a St. Patrick's day celebration, and a lot of celebrating Erwin's life. Here are a few links:

If you haven't flown Sylmar in a while, this is a good chance to come out and get a flight with lots of pilots to help get you safely in the air. The Sylmar club and their members have done a lot to help us at our site (Torrey Pines), so I encourage all Torrey Hawks members to take a flight at Sylmar on March 17th. That's what I plan to do!!

Thanks as always for your membership in the Torrey Hawks!!

Sincerely,
Bob Kuczewski

What an awesome way to honor a man's life, then with an Irish wake on St. Patrick's Day!!
Flying, barbeque, and honoring a fellow pilot - sounds like a great combination for a wonderful day!

It's interesting that you should mention that, Bill.

My Mom, who is full Scottish, would tell me, "since you're not an Irish Catholic, but a Scottish Protestant - you should wear orange instead of green on St. Patrick's Day." Not being a confrontation person, I would wear both. If nothing else - so I didn't get pinched! Coz in my high school in New York City - they would pinch you if you didn't wear green! :!:  :!:

majiemae,
Pinched huh? I happen to be married to one of those abusive Catholics.
What did we innocent Protestants do to deserve all the abuse.
Don’t tell Terry I said that or I’ll be in real hot water.

Actually I’m not afraid to speak up for myself around here.
Just last week she told me to, “Come out from under that bed and fight like a man!” ---And I told her, “NO!!!”

When I want more hot water I don’t ask if it’s okay I take it ----when I’m doing the dishes.

What did we do? Gee, I don't know - tell the truth? Oops, did I type that out loud?
