I've noticed that the City of San Diego TV is now displaying views of slides of citizens speakers. Not full screen as sometimes requested but in the upper left corner of the speaker's camera shot on City TV.

Is the City in fact showing all of the slides now when it hadn't in the past?

Yes. I believe they are now showing almost all of the slides in the small view (when they didn't in the past). They typically do a "zoom in" and "zoom out" effect which sometimes misses the first and last few slides.

If you watch the whole (several hour) Council videos, you'll find that when the City Staff presents, their slides are often shown full screen. But when citizens speak, we get some arbitrarily sized version ... regardless of what we ask.

The Brown Act has been mentioned and I'm wanting to know was it only the implied threat of a possible complaint of The Brown Act violation by the City that now has more slides being displayed during that segment of the public addressing the council.

I suspect that the City Attorney has given Sherri Lightner ample warning that the City might be in violation of the Brown Act by not showing slides when I've repeatedly asked them to do so. The City Attorney's office would probably be considered negligent for not giving such a warning, so I suspect they have. The City was sued a while back for trying to claim that the Monday and Tuesday meetings were really just ONE meeting, and so they only allowed non-agenda comment on one of the two days. I believe the City either lost that lawsuit or realized they didn't have a prayer and settled it. In other words, they spent tax payer dollars in a misguided attempt to suppress citizens' speech. That's just another "DNA" sample of the systemic problems within the City of San Diego.

Bill, you're a great - and vigilant - American!!!    :salute: :salute: :salute: :salute: :salute:

This is my speech to the San Diego City Council from yesterday (September 20, 2021).

https://youtu.be/5MlbFcrhkFA

Here's my script for that speech since it got a bit garbled at the end:

Quote:
This is Bob Kuczewski. Today I want to share a story about Sherri Lightner and the Gliderport.

I first wrote to Sherri Lightner about the Gliderport in 2008 before she took office. She responded with all the right words, but once in office she would not meet with us one time in her 8 years on this Council.

You may not remember, but back in 1999 and 2000 I filed a petition with the California Public Utilities Commission to stop the 858/935 area code splits. That got me introduced to the good folks at UCAN. Well UCAN decided to hold a fund raising event during Sherri Lightner's term, and Sherri Lightner was advertised as the main attraction. So I attended that event with a few other hang glider pilots who wanted to see reforms at Torrey.

I'll never forget it. That event was at a private residence with a big beautiful deck over a canyon near north park. Some of you may know it. We were all out on that deck with a direct view of the front door through the glass door and through the house. That front door opened, and Sherri Lightner appeared in the door facing the deck. She saw us on that deck ... and we saw her. She stood frozen for a few seconds and then turned around and left. Sherri Lightner COULD NOT FACE US. She KNEW that she could not stand up to the hard questions that we would ask about the mismanagement of our Gliderport.

There's a lesson in that story. The things that you do on this Council will become part of your legacy forever. The Internet has a long long memory. Joe LaCava, your weasel words to the La Jolla Town Council don't stand up under scrutiny. It's time for you, Joe LaCava, to summon up the courage to fix whatever is going on behind the scenes that is depriving citizens of use of a public park just because they come speak to this City Council. And let me emphasise that I was expelled from USHPA based explicitly on my speeches to this City Council. They actually put it in writing - that people can be expelled from USHPA for saying things to this City Council that USHPA doesn't like. And yet this City Council - EACH OF YOU - are still requiring citizens to be members of USHPA to use our City Park. The County of Los Angeles recognized this problem and implemented a waiver in 2017 allowing citizens to use THEIR park without requiring USHPA membership. Only corruption keeps that from happening in San Diego. The buck stops with you Joe.

Hi Gus:

I just want to say that that we here up in Northern California also have to deal with what I like to call; "The Tail Wagging the Dog" I Mean I remember being up at a Mountain launch that We have up here. There was a Park ranger who was doing the; "Heavy Breathing, You will do as I say stick". This Ranger did his best Who did I think I was Deal? I replied by saying; "I am one of your employers. For I along with Many, many. many other Tax Paying People I along with all these other Tax paying Property owning residents, own this Mountain, and You work for Us. I am telling You Guys something that I am sure that You are aware of. These Park employes do not at all know their place. They do not see or realize that they are Public Servants, Employes.

How to correct this condition, I do not know? I see that it would not be beneficial to the situation for me to engage any one individual regardding His or Hers arrogant, Condescending Behavior should not be tolerated by Me I simply eat this Verbal Garbage that has been dished out to Me from time to time, just to get along.

Does anyone have any ideas as to how to deal this type of Malicious Banter from one of our employes? I am all ears.
