Below are several videos taken at San Diego City Council over the last couple of years. In these videos, Bob points out the possibility of corruption in San Diego regarding the RFP (request for proposal) for the Torrey Pines Gliderport lease. Oct. 8, 2013 Oct. 15, 2013 Dec. 10, 2013 Jan. 14, 2014 Sept. 30, 2014 Jan. 19, 2016 Some of these may be duplicates, but it's necessary to get them all in one place for ease of viewing. |

The failure to display the YouTube video is not a problem with the forum software. It is a problem with the Google and Chromium browsers with Linux for sure and perhaps with other OS, as well. It may be a browser redirect virus related to the storage.googleapis virus. It may be a temporary glitch with Google, but I doubt it. For now, Firefox will allow full use of the forum. Thanks for posting these Margie!!! With regard to the video problems, that's the trouble with depending on anyone else (whether it be U$HPA or YouTube or the City of San Diego). It turns out that YouTube just decided to "change the rules" on how video is embedded. You can see some discussion here: https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=438&p=14499491#p14499051. I started a topic named "YouTube Blacking Out Video" here in our forum, so please feel free to discuss the YouTube fiasco there. I think I've got it fixed for now, but as long as our videos are hosted by an outside entity (YouTube), they can do what they want (change formats, start charging per view, pull the plug entirely, etc). As for this topic, my October 8th, 2013 prediction (from video above) has come true. The City of San Diego RFP (Request for Proposals) came out with clauses which have effectively "wired" the contract for the current concessionaire. It's a well-known trick in the bidding and proposal world for a government entity (like San Diego) to draft a supposedly "open" RFP in such a way that guarantees only their "buddy" can qualify. That appears to be what the City of San Diego has done with the Torrey Pines Gliderport. |

This is amazing. Look at the money at risk when one denies the public free access to guaranteed recreational activities on public land! Two Malibu property owners fined $5.1 million for blocking access to public beach For decades, some Malibu property owners have made it hard for the public to reach public beaches. On Thursday, the California Coastal Commission fined two of those property owners more than $5.1 million for denying surfers, sand castle builders, kite flyers, sun bathers, yoga enthusiasts and other beachgoers access to the sand that is theirs by state law. ...State legislators granted the commission the authority to level fines in 2014. more http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-headlines-coastal-fines-20161208-story.html Gliderport on Coastal Commision website: https://www.coastal.ca.gov/YourCoast/#/map/location/id/1343 I don't think it is legal to deny any hang glider pilot his right to fly at Torrey Pines. |

Wow! Today the sports world is majorly p****d at the Mayor of San Diego over the Chargers leaving! Charges of total incompetence. A commentator on Fox News just said "He should be shot!" then thought better and retracted his statement on air. I mention this because the Torrey problem is a small subset of this. San Diegans should wake up and replace the Mayor and the City Council. If OAK & SD leave & it looks like they will, both mayors should resign! Embarrassing! I know for a fact how hard both teams worked to stay! — Rich Gannon (@RichGannon12) January 12, 2017 |

Such unsportsmanlike conduct at the glider port, just costed San Diego the Chargers which may/will now move to Los Angeles. Good going San Diego, drain the swamp. |
