Every human at every point in history has an opportunity to choose courage over cowardice. Look around and you will find that opportunity in your own time.

Don’t know.
Not current California or U S Supreme Court Justice members.
Not anyone running for San Diego office.

You are partially wrong on that guess.

Hint: The answer will reveal a really surprising statistic.

Well, partially wrong also means partially right. Hmmmmm. And your statistics hint is over my head. :wtf:

The idea seems to have to do with local San Diego politics (and how they relate to hang gliding?) but I don't think I know what you know.

Is it people with the first and last name starting with the same letter are easier for voters to remember?

Bill's got it!!

Five out of the 9 San Diego City Council Members have first and last names starting with the same letter:

  • Barbara Bry
  • Chris Cate
  • Georgette Gomez
  • Monica Montgomery
  • Scott Sherman

I haven't "done the math" on how likely or unlikely that is, but my intuition is that it's extremely unlikely based on all else being equal. There may, of course, be a number of other factors involved such as parents tending to favor names like that in the first place.

It would be interesting to see if there are other elected bodies that might have a disproportionate number of those names. I would predict that it might be more likely at lower levels (like City Councils) where track records are unknown rather than higher levels (like Congress) where candidates are better known for their actual history.

Run for City government, print up cards with your picture and a bazooka slung across your back,
change your name to Bob Bazooski, and print your motto as
Bob Bazooski Battling Bad Bungling Bureaucrats.
