Torrey Pines Hang Gliding Demo Days / Vintage Pilot and Glider Fly-in 2011 – In recognition of the birth of modern hang gliding 40 years ago at the Lilienthal Meet of 1971, Chris Bolfing is organizing a fly-in at Torrey Pines on the weekend of April 2-3rd, 2011. A third day in the local mountains will be added on Monday, April 4th with sufficient interest. Several manufacturers have confirmed that they will be participating with glider demos. So far there will be gliders from Moyes, Icaro, UP, and Northwing. A number of vintage gliders will be on display and if you have a cool one in the rafters, bring it out. If you are thinking of a new glider this year, or are a vintage pilot, wear your oldest hang gliding t-shirt and come on out. New and 2nd generation pilots are welcome too!!

Super Pics. Thanks to the organizers and for posting pics of the event. Sure wish I could have been there. Great seeing the old gliders!

Wow, and good breezes for flying. That's great. Most individuals I couldn't recognise but did pick out a couple who are still just as ugly :srofl:

All the posts I read about the fly-in were vere positive. Sounds like everyone reall enjoyed the event and got to FLY :thumbup:

There's lots more grass at takeoff and the LZ, than I remember. It used to be all dirt.
