I've gotten a request from one of our members to increase the editing window on the forum.
The current editing window is 1 hour. Sometimes (when editing a long post), it's not too uncommon to go beyond the hour, and that can cause problems. So it's been suggested that 1 hour is too short and it should be extended.
The 1 hour limit was chosen to keep people from going back and rewriting the history of what they said. But of course, even with a one hour limit, people can still rewrite their history within that hour and change what they've already written. So it's not so much a matter of absolutes but a matter of finding the right number.
I think this is a reasonable request, and ...
I hereby move that we increase the editing window time to 4 hours.
Also, this is a case where I am going to make the change right now with the assumption that the Board will approve it. We're in a "Trial Board" mode where I am retaining "veto power", so I'm making this change right now under that "veto power" authority (for the benefit of the requesting member), but I will abide by whatever the decision the Board makes in the long run.
