Near the Dockweiler hang gliding launch pads is a special improvement. Study of that improvement and its activities may enrich one's experience and may even play some roles for the future of hang gliding at the Dockweiler site.

To start:
Historic document:
STATE OF CALIFORNIA
DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION
DOCKWEILER STATE BEACH
GENERAL PLAN AMENDMENT
Los Angeles County
Department of Beaches and Harbors
AQUATIC YOUTH CENTER
http://www.parks.ca.gov/pages/21299/files/ar_541_1064.pdf

The document includes a paragraph that anticipates something for hang gliding: (bold added)
"The community room in the new youth center ould also provide a suitable venue
classes in cultural and natural resources; a variety of classes on surrounding
health-safety classes, parenting and other classes, and various community
groups, hang-gliding classes (Dockweiler Beach only), and beach-related
competitions. Such community-based include free use of the youth
center facilities for official State Park purposes. ,

"Construction of a new hang-gliding learning center"

I think that's the same hang gliding learning center we've been enjoying all these years.
