Hello Members of the U.S. Hawks,
The use of
Artificial Intelligence ("
AI") for posting on the U.S. Hawks forum is a bit of a double-edged sword. AI can provide lots of detailed information, but it can also generate more information than many people want to read. In that regard, reading an AI post can be like drinking from a firehose.
In order to balance the best use of AI technology with the limited time of our human members, I'm asking that all postings of AI generated content be bracketed with the new "
ai" BBCode tag that I've just added to the forum. That will let readers know when they are viewing machine-generated content. In a sense, it's similar to the familiar "
quote" tag that we already use when quoting other people. The details of how to use the new "
ai" tag are given here:
https://ushawks.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=24&p=37050#p37521It's very simple. You just put an opening and closing "
ai" tag around your AI content as follows:
[ai=ChatGPT]
AI content here
[/ai]
That will generate a section of your post that will look like this:
AI content from "ChatGPT":
AI content here
Please use this new "
ai" tag for any AI-generated content that you post (text, images, videos) so that people will know what they are reading or viewing.
I haven't yet decided whether to go back and add the new "
ai" tag to earlier posts, and I welcome any feedback on that decision.
Thanks for your membership in the U.S. Hawks.

Hello U.S. Hawks Members,
I'm writing to let you know about the new AI posting policy at the U.S. Hawks forum. The goal of the policy is to simply make it easier for readers to know when they are reading AI generated content. The policy is described here:
https://ushawks.org/forum/viewtopic.php ... 522#p37522That topic is currently set as an announcement in the forum so it will appear within each forum and subforum.
In a nutshell, all new postings of AI content should be wrapped in the "ai" BBCode tags ([ai=name]and[/ai]) so that readers will know when they are reading AI generated content. This seems like a reasonable way to balance the use of new AI tools with the time constraints of human readers. Please use the new "ai" BBCode tags to mark all of your AI content.
Thank you, and thanks for your membership in the U.S. Hawks Hang Gliding Association.
Sincerely,
Bob Kuczewski
