New name needed for Hang Gliding

Postby Rick Masters » Thu Apr 19, 2018 3:03 pm

U.S. Hawks Pendulum Sailplane Association
Something to capture the imagination of new recruits. Something new and exciting!
USHPA will have a cow. They only have hang gliders and para gliders.
I'm serious. The press will go nuts. "What's a pendulum sailplane? That sounds interesting!"

Why fly a hang glider with the old USHPA when you can fly a pendulum sailplane with the new US Hawks Pendulum Sailplane Association?

Goodbye negative image!
You'll have to go to USHPA for that one, now.

You're sharp!     :P
We could just make Pendulum-Sailplane one word and drop the "S".

Oh, but what about -

Ultralight Soaring Association

U.S.A. for short! You can't get much more patriotic than that. :D

I don't know.
There is so much pendulum action going on with paragliding that I'd rather associate PG with the term.
IMHO, foot launched pilot-in-wing gliders are a real possibility. The pendulum meme would not apply at all to these.

Yes, I always associate pendulum flying with paragliders.
