bob NOMINATED and VOTED
bill NOMINATED and VOTED
joe NOMINATED and VOTED
Henry, Late, no nomination. no vote. My Vote 4 10 35 I'd like to add #35 Ellenville NY
sam NOMINATED and no vote.
satman2953 NOMINATED and no vote.
jcoyier NOMINATED and no vote.
rodger NOMINATED and no vote.
skydog NOMINATED and no vote.

Henry,
As of today (Friday May 17, 2013) the voting window will remain open for four more days.

With only Three official votes in at this time and if it stays this way until the voting window closes the nominations will reopen and you would then be able to submit/nominate Ellenville, NY.

The way this is set up you would be afforded even a greater chance if you officially voted --(vote) 0 4 10 (vote)-- (numbers in Blue. By clicking “Reply” then select the “vote tab.” then place your cursor between the (vote)I(vote), then type your numbers. Once you post your numbers will be in the blue voting band.

That would then have three votes to reopen the nominations. If other voters leave out a “zero” in their vote you then you will not have enough votes to reopen the nominations.
This all of course is only a test vote that really doesn’t accomplish anything important other than get everyone familiar with this new way of voting.

Hi Bill,

It may be that people who did the nominating thought they were voting (some of the posts seemed to sound that way).

If you'd like me to send out a second mass emailing reminding people to vote, I'll be happy to do so. Just let me know what you think it should say and when you'd like it to be sent.

Thanks!!

Thanks Sam

Bob,
If I were controlling mass emailing I would reserve it for really important stuff. I wouldn’t want to cause anyone to opt out of mass emailing like I have done to other boards that just had too much of it. Not to say that this isn’t important but maybe it’s a lot to understand.

For instance I’m at a loss as to how you will display the outcome so that we non computer types will be able to follow it.

Perhaps I can find shorter simpler ways to convey how the procedure works on this thread.

I wonder if Henry would not have benefited with a snip-it picture of the “Reply,” “Vote” tabs. His vote did not appear in the blue voting band that I’m thinking your program reader would be looking for when collecting the votes.

I tried a snip-it picture for a second time on the Hawks site but I goofed it up and can’t figure how I got it right the first time. I too am not to swift with computers.

If you have the time a snip-it picture(s) might do the trick on the nominating and voting tabs.

While we were plowing through our test #2 nominating and voting exercise a few minor epiphanies were unearthed. (At least to me, hindsight being 20/20)
Having no experience with a tractor and having far worse experiences after leaving a voting booth. I’m hardly the one to plow through such an exercise.

Here are some talking points when the time comes when the US Hawks decide what shall be written when we compose anything like: Articles of Incorporation, Standard Operating Procedures, bylaws or rules.

1) How the time frame for nominating and voting windows should be worded.
2) Directions on how to nominate and vote.
3) Is there a need to eliminate duplications in the nominations and voting.
3) Should there be and if so how much time should be allowed between the nominations and voting. Possibly a comment period.
4) Nominations and voting results should be edited into the first post starting the process.
5) Provide for a back up option should there be an Internet interruption during the nominating and voting windows.
---Mitigate the single point of failure risk.
(PS) Would it be possible to have a countdown clock automatically ticking the time left to nominate or vote on any post or thread containing a nomination or vote? Who among us could resist clicking on a post with a ticking count down clock?

Script I found would not work as HTML in the code here in a post, so I put it on an HTML page
http://energykitesystems.net/ushawkscou ... riment.htm

The source code seems incompatible with our forums message posting.
Code was configured using:
http://www.timeanddate.com/clocks/freecountdown.html

Bill, it does put a sense of ACT SOON
about it.

Thanks Joe,
Maybe a button (Link) to a HTML page would be the work around that would work if one wanted to know how much time was left. A button that says, “click here for time remaining.”
Still it would be an eye catcher if a count down clock was on the Board index
Page and to the right of the, “Building the US Hawks,” Forum.
Thanks Joe for your research.

Between you and Bob maybe we will find the way to the best solution.

Hawks,
As I post now at about 6:15 pm mountain daylight savings time there is just under 5 hours and forty-five minutes before the voting window closes.
Some have nominated but not yet voted. This is a test vote only but I would like to see the members familiarize themselves with this process. Review Test one directions if you need assistance voting. I am looking forward to how the program will order the Favorite Flying Site vote.

I got confused on the UTC timing and time zones along with adding in my I.Q which resulted in a very low number. It would appear after checking:
http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/
That the voting window will close in less than 6 hours from this post.
Check the link above to find out when the voting window will close.
Voting is still open as of this post.

4) The voting ballot on the nominated sites will run for one week from May 15, 2013, 0000/UTC to May 21, 2013, 23:59:59.
Return to page one of this thread to see what nominations you will be voting for.
Also review the test #1 directions if you have questions on how to vote.
