Another gone. I can't explain why the photos and articles from the 70's excite me now as much as they did then. On the other hand I find looking at a current USH-whatever magazine to be completely depressing. |

Re: Kiting Foundations of Kite Hang Gliding Postby RickMasters » Mon Jan 12, 2015 1:59 pm After half an hour of wasted time trying to get the correct size to display, I am giving up on posting here. ------------------- Re: Kiting Foundations of Kite Hang Gliding Postby billcummings » Mon Jan 12, 2015 3:52 pm good point Rick. Bob how should we go about adjusting the size of an attachment or picture? I usually just go with what I get when I post. ------------------------ Re: Kiting Foundations of Kite Hang Gliding Postby bobk » Mon Jan 12, 2015 7:58 pm Please give me a call at 858-204-7499 if you ever need immediate help on the forum. I mean that most sincerely. I generally recommend that pictures be less than 1200 pixels wide so they fit in the frame of most browsers and generally load faster. I think there might also be a file size limit. But if there's ever a problem, please give me a phone call (858-204-7499) and I'll do what I can to help. As the admin, I can do lots of things without being asked or bumping into problems that regular members face. That means that I may not be aware of annoying limitations. So if you're having a problem ... please let me know!!! Join a National Hang Gliding Organization: US Hawks at ushawks.org -------------------------- Bill C. Posts: I hope this will work on the Preview as well, but I only tried it on the actual post. I right clicked on the attachment and got a drop down. I went down the short list and clicked on: “View image info,” This is what popped up: Attachment: Drop2.JPG [ 27.75 KiB | Viewed 12389 times ] It shows the size so maybe I can stay under 1200 pixels width with this information. |

I put most of my pictures and attachments on the Hawks website by using a free download called: “Snipping Tool.” https://search.yahoo.com/yhs/search?hsp ... Jj1hVWAk9E It works on this end when I’m using a Fire Fox browser on my Toshiba. I hope it works on most other browsers too. Bob once said that my attachments were too big. |

I've been busy the last few days and didn't see this until today. ![]() I bought my first SLR about the same time I began hang gliding (1975). One thing I enjoyed was taking right-before-launch portraits of my fellow pilots in Ellenville, NY. I also created an in-air photographic system called the PHOTO-POD back in the late 1980s. So, I can closely connect with Bettina's love for capturing images connected with the sport of hang gliding. I would have to say that she gained my respect soon after I noticed the first few (repeated) picture credits she received in "Hang Gliding" magazine. Here was a woman who was helping photo-document the history of our sport - AND its beauty! I never got the chance to meet her. Probably because she was (mainly?) located on the west coast. But I really wish I had had the chance ![]() Can I give anymore credit to her contributions to the sport of hang gliding if I add, . . . Inspirational! |

It would be great to see your early pictures posted somewhere here on the US Hawks. ![]() If you'd like a place where you can present the uninterrupted history of hang gliding through your own lens, the Blog Forum is a great place for that. If you want to post them article by article, then the History section is great also. By the way, I can always cross link a topic in two forums. So if there's a history or blog topic that we'd like to appear in another section (like "Hang Gliding General"), then I can do that on a request by request basis. |

Bob, While I was writing up my post I gave some serious thought to creating a "Photo History of Hang Gliding" thread/blog. What better way to honor Bettina's own love and spirit? I think lots of pilots are visually minded and some are even good photographers! ![]() My personal challenge would be in turning (mainly) color slides into current digital images! Yikes! bobk wrote: If you'd like a place where you can present the uninterrupted history of hang gliding through your own lens, the Blog Forum is a great place for that.
