Joe, Angela, and I had a nice day at Dockweiler today. I'll post more pictures after I pull them from the videos, but here's a snapshot of Joe, Angela, and myself that sums up the day nicely:

Thanks to Greg DeWolf for taking that picture for us ... and for the good friend he's been to hang gliding for so many years.

OK, I took some snapshots from the video (in no particular order of the flights):

Here's Joe preflighting the Condor 330:

Here's Joe's Olympic-quality hang long jumping:

Expressive Shadow and Stuck Police

Postby JoeF » Tue Jun 09, 2015 6:19 am

A police car got stuck in the soft-sand berm near the water; a lifeguard vehicle was offering to tow the police car a bit; notice that the police car would become a wing flying in the sand while being powered by the tension in the tow line; hence the combine of the lifeguard vehicle (active kite anchor) would be towing via a tow kite line the police-car kite wing; the flight would be short; but kite-system there would be.

On the hang glider scene, notice the expressive Valentine-heart shadow that gives echo to the spirit of the gliding kite system above. The sun's light knew just how to form the scene!
Image
The pilot is the falling kite anchor; the hang loop and main hang lines form the tether set that tugs at the ktie-system wing; the pilot occasionally adjusts the attitude of the wing's airframe in order to control the kite-systems movement relative to the air and earth and sky and sun. Good time: free-flight kiting: kite hang gliding (KHG)

Joe, your eyes can see what most of us cannot.
