Avian Buddies at Dockweiler

Our hang gliders are not the only thing in the Dockweiler airs. We have avian buddies. Getting to know the bird species may enhance one's Dockweiler experience.

Frank C. mentioned that a large portion of the California Gulls (Larus californicus) are hatched at Mono Lake. See changing data as the species breeds in new places:

Wing-running note with regard to California Gull: Brine Fly Feeding Frenzy at the Great Salt Lake By Ron Dudley, on September 9th, 2011. Ron notes:" Most of the flies are resting on the sand until the bird makes its run. As the gull rushes along the shoreline the flies are disturbed into the air and the bird snaps up as many as it can."
