Landing in two or more states simultaneously club

Postby JoeF » Mon Jan 18, 2016 1:18 pm

You've been flying HG and land provably in two or more states simultaneously; you give proof.
Then you become a member of a special group. The border needs to be well identified. Your landing's wing projection needs to be in two US states when your feet touch the ground for the first time from a HG flight. You might run out your landing into just one state. Say your touch down has your wing straddle Oregon and California, then you are just needing some proof of such. Proof methods? Discuss. Notice, that long borders provide more opportunity for the "two states" challenge. But getting a "three-state landing" has much less opportunity; and "four-state landing" is with less opportunity. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Four_Corners_Monument

Recall that "hang gliding" is a large realm. There are many forms of hang gliding.

If this guy flew into that position, then he would be a member of this elite club; but we do not know how he came to land as he did. Did he fly micro hang glidingly into that landing? No information.

The Four Corners Monument would offer an opportunity for "micro hang gliding" to land in four states. Done with a front wire man and sufficient wind to lift pilot and glider.

Yes, that would be one type of hang gliding, as one type of micro hang gliding is hang gliding. Yet, there are even easier micro hang gliding designs for the Four Corners achievement. The system you first describe is one way. Another: Fold up a paper glider from notebook paper; set the AoA with hand overhead holding the wing just inches back from the point of four corners; take a lean, walk, jog, run (bottled in one tiny step) and load the wing in forward micro flight for a super tiny micro glide; both feet need to be off the ground while loading the wing in micro glide. The micro hang glide is calculable; one needs to touch feet in a manner that the vertical projection of the paper glider is over the point of the Four Corners at that landing point. The sink rate is is rapid; the path is very very near vertical in calm or wind. The wing is not recommended for high launches. Any successful achievement posted for the Four Corners will include the description of the wing and other matters; and each could be enjoyed for itself.

How many "three-corners" are available? :?:

Someone may one day claim an added item: "two states and two nations" for a HG landing. :!:

Others might want to tell of cousin activities: "two or more counties of a state" or "two or more cities of a state".

Every human at every point in history has an opportunity to choose courage over cowardice. Look around and you will find that opportunity in your own time.
