[[Not wanting to lose this unbaked-yet idea: Have somehow a cord ladder attached ---perhaps hidden-- to the basebar of TCF; deploy at FTHI and hand-hanging; climb up the cord ladder and stand on basebar to finish the FTHI flight. Unbaked. ]]

Base bar protectors? Consider protecting pilot with Safe-Splat enhanced base bar protectors: wheels, skis, skids, rollers, RWW (roller when wanted: presto roller), WWW (wheels when wanted: presto wheels). Peer pressure to go bare base bar has resulted in a space of incidents where "experts" still whack with dire consequences. It is possible to "look" bare without being bare of Safe-Splat base bar based savers and protectors, not just of the basebar, but of the pilot. Fancy basebar protectors without fancy safe-splat could cost pilot in huge way.

Consider the potential terrain textures. Shrub size. Rock size.

Consider SWW: Spoon When Wanted.

During my extensive flying in the nineteen-seventies I always used base bar wheels, I brushed off the peer pressure "training wheel" jokes, and smiled as I wheeled my glider out of the landing areas as other pilots struggled to carry theirs.

In year 1908 at a sport's hang gliding official meet, the W. Simon cable-stayed triangle control frame on battened flexible wing hang glider,
there is no evidence of his having basebar-based mitts. At about 108 years later we see Bill C keeping his hands warm during a recreational hang glider flight on March 19, 2016. :)
