I would guess that a high percentage of U$hPA RD's have held their positions - getting re-elected time after time - for 25-35 years. That would put them in the 60 - 75 year old age group (or older). Isn't that the age range when Alzheimer's and senile dementia begin to show up?
The U$hPA's lack of a strategic plan could be linked to "diminished capacity".
The phrase "We need some fresh minds" could fit the context. But are there enough new, young and capable hang glider pilots out there who could unseat the "Old Boys Club" currently in charge? Hmmmmmm, . . . Would such a group even understand how to make things better?
As Rick says, I also don't think things will end well for the U$hPA.
But I'm not so concerned. I'm a member of an organization of anti-U$hPA nut jobs (please note
obvious sarcasm) who do have good ideas. And we're also open to even more good/positive ideas, regarding recreational hang gliding - from anyone who wants to offer them up.
