That photo of me and the Skysail must have been taken in early 1972, not '73 as noted, because I had switched to tip drag rudders after the first time a turn was tried in very early '72. The same goes for the Skysail model.

One attempted turning flight at Norco showed a problem with my "up-only" ailerons. The glider would pitch up before any roll had begun. There was no reason to continue with this roll method.

Joe, I understand the use of the word "circa". But because that configuration of the Skysail was so short lived, I felt it was important to identify the time line more closely. I didn't want anyone in the future to think that method of roll control, I experimented with unsuccessfully, lived on to anywhere near to 1973. It was probably gone by February of '72.

Thanks for posting that movie film by Chris. It's too bad the film had deteriorated so much.
