But a UL pilot who goes on Youtube by Skysurfer already coined it for Ultralight flying Even though um, surf boards have no motors on them...
Sky Sailing?
You do have to kind of be mindful of the air currents 100% like sailors...
Choppergirl,
I once pounded on the Duluth MN TV Studio door to tell the weatherman that I had wasted a 180 mile round trip because of his (stupid) weather report.
Felix Humphrey told me he was not a meteorologist but only a weatherman that reads the the NWS forecast, "Off the wire."
The wind was North 15 to 20 mph but only made whitecaps half way across the narrow end of western Lake Superior.
The second half of the lake (the downwind half) was glassy smooth. I asked Felix, "How is that possible?"
He didn't know.
Much later I figured it out that the cold lake water cooled the air above the water eventually lifting the warm land air upward. I'm sure the sailboat people had that figured out long before there were hang gliders.
