Wow!!    Look what you can read about Ken:

Ken Manatt
This file: http://www.energykitesystems.net/HGpilo ... anatt.html

  • FL, HA, TUR
  • HG since 1978
  • Flies frequently at Sylmar.
  • Has flown in Russia, Colorado & Mexico
  • One of his later instructors: Andy Beem of Windsports.

"Also making the trip were Jim Ketchum of Marina del Rey; Ken Manatt of Los Angeles; Jim Junio of Anaheim; Bob Lafay of Tujunga; Greblo's wife, Kris; and the women's world record-holder in open-distance flying, Katherine Yardley of Sunland, who set the mark by flying 168 miles in just under 10 hours over the Owens Valley last summer." Rome Dodson (RIP) was also mentioned in the article quoted. ""We thought we would go there and show them a thing or two," said Rome Dodson, 61, of Sepulveda, one of eight self-proclaimed ambassadors of hang gliding who made the trip"

It was very cool for him to keep that Otto Meet / U.S. Hawks sticker on his helmet.

Thanks for a fun day Ken!!

These are some pictures from February 18th. It was such a great day that I was too tired to post the pictures that night.

Joe Faust and I spent a fun day at Dockweiler today. We alternated flights on my Falcon 195 until the sun was just about to set.

Here's the forecast for the day (which was pretty accurate):

We had a fun day at Dockweiler yesterday. We had 4 pilots flying 2 gliders. We flew Bill's Freedom 170 and my Alpha 210. Here are the pilots in alphabetical order:

  • Bill
  • Bob
  • Dave
  • Joe
Here are two sets of pictures (from about 50 flights) in that same order:
