Static Tow Location

I have spoken with the owner of Gateway Airpark (Keith Smith) https://www.facebook.com/GatewayAirpark/ and he can static tow gliders on his 2,000ft air strip. Additionally, he told me that we can also use the Greenfield Airport with their 4,000ft airfield to tow there as well. I'm super excited!

Two thousand is short for towing until you can handle 10 to 15 mph wind.

Yes, Bill, you're right about that! I've recently spoken with Steve Wendt from BluSky Virginia Hang Gliding, who has been teaching students exclusively on surface tows for decades, and he educated me on length of airfields, among other things. I am planning on visiting his school sometime in the fall to become more familiar with all these systems. I'm not convinced anymore that Lookout is geographically suitable to learn surface towing in the way that I want to implement it here in the St. Louis area.

It's going to take a bit longer than I thought, but if I don't do it, no one will.
