All these years of control by one "family" and their coharts, and "cowering" and submission by all others , has led to a place where, in my opinion, only "public" outcry, and courtroom drama, will prevail. The aggressive business model adopted by ACA and the Jebb family, where they do what they want, investigate accidents and then hide from view the "so called in house report, (u$pha by the way), "protect" the family's of the fallen from the media, (give me a break), and bully pilots (especially 1 woman pilot in particular) that are not in "the club", threaten to put people in the hospital before taking them to jail, (you were kinda lucky Bob) publicly accusing good standing people of "defamation" of character and safety "abuses", suing them for $1000,000, then hiding behind their lawyers and u$hpa lawyers, in a court of law, their own lousy character,(And getting away with it). Promoting their business model with "false" misleading advertising, preying on the good name and good nature of a public, "Historic Torrey Pines Glider Port.

If the city would take back some responsibility, and reinstate the soaring council of old, rewrite the "lease" to where the "consessions" were handled by a business, and "flight" operations were handled by professional pilots hired by the "park rangers", the new lease would require handicapped accomidations, and the public participation at this park would be fun for all. (No one is saying that ACA and Jebb should not gain profit, but profit should not write the "by laws". And pilots should not have to run a slalom course, or play carroms.

There have been many fine reporters and forum posters, who have put these stories in print.
The words are there to read if we choose. I give a big shout out to the "we", you all know who you are. Let's keep them "hot topics", along with the fun stories of the "gliding sphere".

Michael Giles and Bob Kuczewski , Ernie C, and others, have stood for truth, for 9 years.
Margie and Bob have put together video and written, public "evidence", of powerful San Diego "officials" turning their heads away from "real issues" at their Flight Park. (I tried to post links here to document this, but there were so many instances of the "GAF" attitude on the part of officials, that I became embarrassed as a "citizen"). Weather it is incompetence, corruption, or just don't "give-a-Fu**" , something is (and I think it's the "mute merchants" at the profit motivated u$hpa) putting peoples lives at risk each and every day, in the air above this "public" park.
I see , in my research, flight instructors around the world, take great pride in their work, and their professional attitude reflects on the "flying" industry as a whole. .....speaking of a hole, my research has shown me that the TPGP has fallen into disrepair and needs a "good flushing". As a Colorado Master Plumber for 45 years, I might be able to help. Ha.... but seriously , my research includes talking to old and new friends about what's going on at Torrey. They all agree that the "profit" based economy that has "evolved" at Torrey, has undermined the true spirit of the PARK. If only the presentation of a new comprehensive plan would be taken seriously. It iS taken seriously by US HAWKS, as shown in all the years of "good writing" (and banter) attention given by some of the pioneers in hang gliding, and "piloting" in general.
I am hoping that the topic about, "how to implement a new comprehensive plan" can spread into the public sphere. "Abracadabra".....we'll just have to find some magic.
Here is a great "one liner" from Bob..... "You don't have to be in the air, to care".

I like your new avatar Craig. It looks like you may be paying tribute to Dave Cronk.

Thanks also for posting that video. That will be 10 years ago next month:

I was Regional Director of USHPA at that time before the crooked people behind that organization conspired to have me recalled and eventually expelled for speaking up.

Your post above that is also excellent, and it reveals the careful study you've given to the matter.

Ernie, I also agree with many parts of your post. But be careful about what can and cannot be proven.

One thing is perfectly clear. There has been a long history of abuse, injury, and death surrounding the operation or mis-operation of the Torrey Pines Gliderport. The City of San Diego has been extremely negligent in their intentional lack of oversight at that park.

Sorry for the double post, but

Learn these tactics, because this is what they are using.

They won't attack an organization, they will attack an individual, or two, as Ernie and Bob, have been, while others have been muted by fear.

The whole of the forum, "Two Dead at Torrey", has been so well "articulated" by people who really care, but Ernie and Bob, who are "brothers of flight", have become "brothers in arms". When I watched Ernie "stand for truth" at the podium, just two days after this accident, I saw a man with more "passion" than most, pour himself out to the audience and an unlistening council.

I wish he would do it more.

Others will come forward, as Margie (TY for the video) and Bob and Ernie have, to , "so well document", for all to see, the betrayel, that is being perpetuated by "The Alinskyites".

I wish that a list of ALL the accidents at Torrey could be posted on a giant board, and with flowers, and Frank on his flute, (he has a very personal stake in this) and Ernie and Bob and Margie, be brought through the Glider Port, in memorium.

Frank would be arrested for playing music without a permit in a public park, Bob would be arrested again, for trespassing (and being a "thorn" in their side), Ernie would be slammed to the ground AGAIN, and when he got up and tried to defend himself would be arrested for, oh.. I don't know...defamation or something they would "conjur" up, and Margie, ..well ,.. the "bullies" would do what they do best , try to make her "cower" .

That is when the News teams would "come from out of nowhere" , raise their cameras, and say, like Jordan Peterson did....... GOT YA!!.

You have already been sued by the Coastal Law Enforcement Action Network and LOST. You settled out of court, made to agree to 3 requirements, but using "sauls" tactics, "squashed" everything, and no enforcement was implemented. Gee.....wonder why.

Lucky for us, Bob, Margie, Ernie, Rick, Bill, Joe, Frank, Free, Scott, etc. Have stood strong, against the "tippers".

Get ready for this and more, because we know who you are. And it is WE who are watching you (small letters).

It's the "buzzards" against the rest of US, but we are not Carp or scavengers.

Submitted by a Hawk with truth as an insurance policy.

Jordan Peterson counters with this, "stop talking to people who aren't listening to you" "start watching them and they will tell you exactly what their doing", "talking to people who aren't listening, only lessons your story". Seek out the people who want to listen.

Ernie's speech (like Bryan Yute's speech and Mike Giles' speech and Scott Wise's speech) was also especially powerful because it wasn't Bob Kuczewski's speech.

Well

I am puzzled, ...A " Hang Gliding " video sent by the Torrey Glider Port?
It seems as though all the para glider tandumb pilots were in awe of the only Hang Glider in the Air. And one of the pilots did some " dangerous" looking acrobatic moves, with his "chute", and disappeared below the clifs, 8:56, as They "cut" the film....hmm. ..a maneuver like that (a hard right turn) by a novice in traffic, could kill someone..... oh , "sources say" it did. The "floating aspect" seemed too easy and seemed awkward, and the camera was shaking badly. Not the most compelling video if you wanted to encourage "para" (def. A woman who has produced one or more offspring..ha...) and the only shot of a Hang glider, showed him to be very "athletic" to my eye. As the para/medics ...I mean para gliders stumbled and bumbled around, they actually look more like a "hands up don't shoot" video. And they had to have spectators help them take off and land. And the guy in the red shirt looked pretty aggressive. (By the way, working with your arms over your head, will eventually cause great pain in the 4th lumbar sciatic nerve) just sayn' from experience.
================================================
.
The hang glider seems able to "work" gracefully "with" the wind, but the para chutests were "controlled by" the wind.
Question: pilots receive a "rating" and have to "stay" current, do "airports" have to maintain a rating.?

http://www.para-excellence.co.uk/reserves.html

"A Practical Perspective for Paraglider Pilots".

Read this carefully, before you pay "somebody" $525.00 /hr. ($175.00 for a 20 min ride) and let them , make you sign a "waiver", (which does not tell you that a reserve chute properly thrown within the first 2 seconds of an "emergency will take 300' to fully deploy ) then they strap you into a harness that is connected to a Chinese made "parachute" with a Chinese made "parachute " as a "backup", and then send you off a 300' cliff. This upwards of 6 thousand times a year . Do the math. 20+ tandumb flights a day, 300 days a year, x $175.00.
American companies refuse to make or "brand" these "paragliders" for a very good reason, [b][i]LIABILITY[i]
.. But ACA has a full range of these "state of the art" "paragliders" in their shop , ready to custom fit one to your "flying abilites". They will also "recycle" your old paraglider to u$hga, to be made into back packs, and parachute bags. A paraglider has a lifespan of 2 years (so the salesman says) depending how well you take care of it, and how many times you fly it. The backup parachute must be treated with utmost care and be "repacked" and inspected by a professional.
In the amount of time it takes to read these "rules" and your "responsibilites" of "paragliding", and reserve chutes. In an emergency at 300' (Torrey Cliffs) you would get through maybe the first 3 sentences. And read rule #11 first...... "be prepared to panic", ....could not believe that. "be prepared to panic.....
Think about it, if you are 25 years old, and you purchase a paraglider, and fly it allot, by the time you are 45, you would have purchased (by ACA standards) 10 different paragliders. In the same amount of time, your American made Hang Glider, would be still be a "strong" craft.

Beware of who is "selling" you your wing, and who you pick as an instructor. And really question your ACA instructor and Jebb, if you can find him, about the fact that at 300', you are already 200' below "safe" reserve deployment.

Stable wings, and not so profit driven mentors, will last you a lifetime.

As an effective and creative advertising slogan goes, "Cash Cows" would be A
Great laugh if flown as a tow flag behind a Dirigible painted up like one.
Maybe "paradoy" could finally make the "Jebb crime family", over play their hand, and more expose their "deep" corruption.

I realize that this is a hang gliding pilots forum, but many many "non members"
read this and I hope that they can make their Torrey "paragliding" friends, more aware of the dangers of "always flying below safe minimums", and becoming "Over Confident" to boot.

Craig I applaud you concise post about Chinese(Vietnamese also) paragliders and reserve chutes.
Please note ACA video tapes you signing the waver last I heard.
I can trace responsibility of faulty reserve chute training to PASA. ACA only follows their standards.
What you may not want to hear is ACA is coming up on the 1 year anniversary of the 2019 accident.
They will have completed 1 full year with no fatalities and their accomplishment will be thus noted at that time.

Can anyone produce a photo or any information on one single paraglider that was produced in America ever?

Doug.
PS We drove out to the new USHAWKS Antelope Acres flying site and have much video and telemetry.
The GPS failed while driving up the 14 so it was off by 10 miles. I estimate we explored the area 1000' (300 meters) south of the actual land after later seeing the LA County assessor record. I hope to post a video or a 360 degree view along with an antelope or elk pelvic bone.
