I've seen that one before. Obviously "pilot error". Error - in deciding to fly a paraglider.
The commentators seem to have missed seeing the HV power lines he just barely missed, because the poles were so prominent. This guy lives a charmed life!

Thank you John for your dedication to the sport of HangGliding. It shows in your editing and choreography how much you love it.
My son Zane and I were sitting on our porch, across from Telluride Town Park, during the 1978 flying season, when this crazy hang glider comes flying out of the sky, with smoke cooking off both wings. We knew he could do a loop or two , because well... .it was Telluride Town Park, and we always had ringside seats, but to see 6 beautiful loops and some wing walking on a short final, my son, all of three, said "he was on fire".
What's not to love,
you guys should make a music video of your dancing
Routine before launch, and give it a catchy name.
I liked your editing in the , kicking the "keep out" sign, and then "playing well with friends". Did they have the cuffs ready when you landed??
" pattern work" is "life saving" work.

Question: is the "prop" they used as a glider, an actual hang glider?
Looks to me like a huge elevator with rudder, and a huge canard up front.
"A nose heavy aircraft is hard to fly, A tail heavy aircraft.......flies..once." J. B. And E.M.
"If I were King" I would make a "History" museum to the "public" park and show the timeline of this "historic" "Gliderport" . Things for people to do, besides watching parachuting thrill seekers, would be to actually see the historical tow launch winch at work, and watch the original hand crafted gliders in the air again, flown sometimes by their original pilots, in their "original geer", and "hooked up " to an (ESPN) announcer on the ground.....ha.. "Air Shows" were always well attended, especially if there is a championship race course set up, that really shows off the abilities of the pilots, and the many different Gliders , old and new. PLus... You could win gold, silver, or bronze .
(what is the history of tow launch machines at Torrey? and it's original position, (does the ucsd own any of the gliderport?. now launching , Hand Crafted Gliders and their EXPERT PILOTS again on a daily basis.
Of course the "lease" would have to be amended to accommodate this "reorganizing" campaign , and the (Jury trial) court case(s) coming up on Aug. 3rd, among other things, might require the city to put out another RFP, (AND IF THEY DON'T??) , and require better "vetting" procedures for a professional coordinator of our Torrey Pines Historical Gliderport . After all, City is responsible for this park, and if lawsuits are brung, the City is on the hook.
I think that "HangGlider History" , as told by many pilots about their "beloved machines", will win the day. And the many stories about , "what made you want to fly a HangGlider?" . " How do I choose a wing(s) " , How did you learn?. Did you have any had accidents? "Can you teach me?"....
The more you know the more you'll Go
