I'M NOT A PILOT I'M A POSER.

Postby Chris McKeon » Wed Feb 09, 2022 3:50 pm

For the last eleven and a half years due to the horrendous injuries that I sustained at the end of My last Flight. I find Myself regulated to as far as being a Pilot, I am a poser . Sure I have the Best, the greatest king-posted glider ever made, My Predator 158. But I am not able to Fly it. Yet in spite of doing the "Near Death DEal" I am on my Way back. I believe that I very well might fly Franks Condor First. Then i will fly My Predator again, and again, and again I hope.

Chris,
I disagree, you are a pilot and always will be.
Regardless of what the future holds, your experiences and contributions are respected.

Most of, if not all of you Guys do not know Me. But trust Me when I say that I am a pretty good Guy. Maybe when You run into John, ask John about Me I believe that John will cast Me in a favorable light. Also I believe that John would say that I am a fairly good Pilot. I really could land My Predator. I do not know what went wrong on that Sunday, March 28th 2010 But it did. It really did go wrong. Get this I do not know that I will ever know what went wrong. For I have no memory of the Day, the Flight nothing. The initial prognosis for My recovery was that I would never Walk again, I would not recover Mentally to much better than a Potato. Potato Me? No way. I think I might of been a Grapefruit, not a Potato.Well here is something to think about "IF" if I had indeed been a Potato, I would not have been able to walk if were indeed a Potato. I can look back at those times now and chuckel. But living through this deal has been ardorous.

Maybe I will indeed be down South for the Otto Meet. Then I might get to meet a few of You.

I agree with Dave ... you are not a poser.

I can tell because even after all you've been through, you still want to fly. And the word "want" is an understatement!!

I will also say that your recovery has been remarkable. I remember our first conversations many years ago. Your speech and your memory have improved many times over since then.

I look forward to meeting you in person, and I definitely want to be there when the Big Phoenix in the Sky takes flight again.

And I will be proud to see you taking flight under my big wing! It will be after your flights under a similar wing in the Windsports Flight School but you won't even need to get used to a different "beach" harness when you switch to my Condor. I just purchased one of the same upright "beach" harnesses that Windsports uses. Those harnesses were designed for Windsports but are now on the market to anyone by "Greyfit". I bought the XL size so it should fit you also, Chris.

Looking forward as you are, to the "Big Day".

At this point and time I really am not sure where, or what Glider that i Will Fly for the first time in 12 Years. 12 Years, 12 long torturous agonizing Years. I tell You Guys even though I had an unfortunate experience on Sunday March 28th 2010. I have recovered from the injuries where I did My Super Pound. I mean I ventured further into what we call: "Having Being injured" than anyone that I know of. I believe that there are Veterans of the war in the middle east that had those bombs detonate close to them that could sympathize with what I have gone through. But I have not had an opportunity to converse with one of our Soldiers whose Brain took a shellacking.

I believe that If and when I Fly it will be the single most, the greatest thing that I have ever done.

"I'M FEELING LOW AND< AND I AM FEELING SLOW, AND FEELINGS"

My, My, My. Such faith is spreading in Me. Heck two of have yet to meet Me. Frank I guess tHAT yOU ARE CORRECT. i mAY NOT BE A TRUE, OR SHOULD i SAY?; i am not a poser. It is just that as of late i feel that way. Here it is; I have the hottest fastests, best climbing KIng-Posted Glider in the World, I have it right out in My Back Garage. My Predator is hanging up on the N-W wall of my Garage. It is right there along side my 1971 Plymouth road-runner that I hope to compete in the Silver-State road-race up in Nevada. I have always had a thing for speed. Be it My road-runner or My Predator. Speed is fulfilling to Me.

Reading what You Guys type regarding how I will Fly again, is such a Shot in My Arm. Reading your thoughts about My Flying causes Me to recall flying With John. Being with John, what John said to Me regarding flying My Predator. Johns thoughts-His words made Me feel like I could do just about anything while Flying My Predator.

I was talking to John via the Phone this Morning. This nice looking Slack-Sunday Morning. We were talking about Flying, what else would We talk about? I John told Me that He was heading to the Training Hill so that He could work with a Student. So I lamented about not being able to Fly. My whining about My lack of any Air-Time is something I do far too much. You guys can see why I feel like such a poser. For I have the Hottest King-Posted Glider ever made. Yet I do not Fly-it.

John and I were talking about Flying, well specifically John and I were talking about landing. I asked John; John have You ever seen a Pilot who Landed better than I landed a Glider? Well John told Me that there is a Pilot, who might be able to land better than I did, Steve Moyes. You see his Dad would tow Steve up over and over again using a Boat to do the towing. Well Steve got to where he could land with one of his feet in a Bucket that they had put on the Beach. I am impressed.

I just want to say that I truly do appreciate that all You Guys tolerate my ramblings here on This Hawks site. Well I darn near did not survive My last landing event. I was a pretty good lander, if You doubt that statement why don;t You ask John the next time You see Him, ask Him how good a lander I was. I took great pride in My ability to ;Stick a landing. But on March 28th 2010. I got My reality check. I came very close to failed My Reality Check. But as the saying goes;. "That was Then, this is now". I still want to Fly, Yes I want to experience Free-Flight once again, and Again, and Again. It is beginning to look like I might Fly Frank's 360 square Foot Wills-Wing Condor. I believe that Franks Condor is 360 Square feet, is It 360 Square Feet Frank?

You Guys Simply have no way of knowing How it feels to be Me. Having gone through the most Horrendous Crash that I could have imagined. Yet Here I am stedly getting back to ; "My Normal. Granted My [Normal] is Everyone else's AB-Normal. But My Normal is all Mine it always has been, and it always will be Mine.
