Is the pack a happy scene for you?
What makes you happy about the pack?

A packed hang glider is a "happy packed HG" for me when people next to me while riding the city bus with my pack(s) are not disturbed, when I can tow the pack easily when trekking to and from a launch site. Packs of 5-ft or less tend to be happier deals. Packs of 30 lb or less seem to tease a kind of special pleasant smile. Oh happy packed hang glider! What are your secrets?

"short pack" in hang gliding is distinct from "ultra-short" .... beware.
"Short" may well be too long and might not rise to "happy-packed" ... depends, right? So measure for a design movement: 5-ft or less ... and also otherwise "happy."

An option in rib-batten formation:
Two CFRP tubes of one meter each. Bond a coupler of aluminum tube to one end of just one of the two CFRP tubes. Upon assembly of HG: let the tension on sail compress the coupled tubes. Upon happy packing: uncouple the two tubes to one-meter approximately stacking.

Update:
I have completed the prototype telescopic hang glider just now with a 28 inch leading edge and a packing length of 8.5 inches.
I have some photos of the process unfortunetly the prototype is damaged and repaired 3 times.
The keel pocket needs to be movable as a way to trim the glider (duct tape/velcro).
If I can build one of these I can build 100 of these.

In one project with a 16" diameter inflated bladdered main spar, a sail sock will be tauten by stand-off struts, the sock will be position-firmed by a line of hook-and-loop. Wing twist will be governed partially by upper and lower rigging. Packing options: accordion fold spar case or wrap on crutch; accordion fold sock or wrap on crutch format. Spar case will be pinched to provide a spanwise pocket for segmented compression member. Case will be secured firmly at the wingtips. Compression member packing option: coils of rod.

My telescopic 28 inch hangglider made 3 test flights today but it is nose heavy (the nature of telescopic tube is heavier at the base.)
So I either alter the design or add ballast at the back of the keel.

What tactics might keep a telescopically-based HG frame from loading the nose region too much?
Consider HGs with spreaders; consider having the central section of left or right leading edge spar be the holder of more mass per span-foot than the section of telescopic tubing supplying the nose region. The telescopy would have the larger diameter and massive tube section at the center section of the left or right leading edge. Let A be larger diameter section, B fitting inside A, and C fitting inside B and D fitting inside C. Note that wall thickness can bring mass; sections need not all be the same wall thickness. So, e.g., have the left LE spar be CAB; the B could be even less wall thickness if such still fulfills safety needs; the A could take the bending beating and the connecting with spreader. Buckling resistance from compression can arrive from a combination of wall thickness and outside diameter. In a CAB left or right LE spar, the A section plays a different role than the B section.
