You're slipping Craig. Maybe the pressure is getting to you ...

Steve Rohrbaugh is well known as one of the Torrey paragliding insiders that has sided with the business for decades. There are plenty of quotes on this site about him. He was one of the regulars on paraglidingforum.com. Ask Rick Masters about how they operate on that site.

In fact there's a long discussion about Steve Rohrbaugh and how he tried to whitewash the paragliding death of Pamela Hargett at Torrey. You can read it here:

       https://ushawks.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=79&t=4237

The fact that you, "Craig Muhonen", would cherry pick a quote by Steve Rohrbaugh from that topic against me shows your clear and obvious bias. You might as well be quoting AOC about Trump.    That's more proof that you are not a friend of hang gliding at Torrey Pines Gliderport or anywhere else. For the record, here are some other discussions related to Steve Rohrbaugh:

Logan's experience is not an isolated incident. That's exactly the kind of thing that the San Diego Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association (SDHGPA) leaders have done for decades.

I made my first paragliding flights around 1990 at "Little Black" in San Diego with instruction from Fred Lawley (thanks Fred). We didn't have to join any club. Similarly, when I got back into paragliding in 2004, Ken Baier gave me instruction at Little Black without any local club requirement. In fact Ken loaned me a paraglider to train with at Little Black while I was working on my ratings (thanks Ken).

I was there one day when I met Steve Rohrbaugh (one of the rotating SDHGPA presidents), and he told me (lied to me) that I had to be an SDHGPA member to fly there. I was a newby at the time, and I assumed he was telling the truth, so I signed up and paid him the money on the spot. It later came to light that there was no such requirement.

Of course the SDHGPA has remained a Chapter in "good standing" with U$HPA despite these abuses, and the Torrey Hawks - which never solicited nor accepted a dime from anyone - was denied renewal.

Steve Rohrbaugh continued to post merrily on paraglidingforum.com where he whitewashed the sins of the Torrey concessionaire. I haven't checked recently, but I suspect he's still posting there to this day.

Many of the local clubs are puppets of USHPA, and they support the continued extortion of private citizens to use public land. The Torrey Hawks never participated in that shakedown effort so USHPA "expelled" the entire club in retaliation.

Bob Kuczewski wrote:I have to agree with the comments about paraglidingforum.com and their intolerance for getting at the facts.

I began a discussion about a paragliding death at Torrey and started discussing the poor training at that site which may have been a contributing factor:

    http://www.paraglidingforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=47773

The moderator split the discussion without my consent (which was fine), but when I continued to discuss the other problems at Torrey - in the new topic he created for that purpose - the topic was locked and I was banned. Here's the link to that second topic:

    http://www.paraglidingforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=48216

The evidence is pretty strong that the paragliding community at that site cannot tolerate objective discussions. If you read my posts, you'll see that I was simply pressing Steve Rohrbaugh for the facts, and he didn't want to provide them. So they shut down the discussion and banned me.

You. Me. Paragliding pioneer (!) Joe Faust. When they get tired of you "behaving badly," they shut you up.

QUOTE: James "---- The accident and fatality statistics for hang gliding and paragliding over time are about the same.---"
QUESTION: HOW CAN THAT QUOTE BE FACT CHECKED?

I have determined there have been at the very least 783 hang gliding fatalities since 1972 vs. 1247 paragliding fatalities since 1986. The numbers on both sides are probably a lot higher -- these are only my verified free-flight numbers. But in 1986, when the first paraglider pilot was killed in the Alps, there had already been at least 547 hang gliding deaths. This means there have been at least 246 hang glider pilots vs. 1247 paragliders killed since paragliders have been in existence. Note that this is a list, not a statistic. So far, in my experience, neither hang glider pilots nor paraglider pilots seem to know either the difference between statistics and a list, or seem to be aware that a list must first be compiled to develop a statistic.

Yet here you are using quotes from Steve Rohrbaugh to try to attack me? You've been caught several times now spreading misinformation on this forum and privately to our members. Your most recent post shows the dishonesty in your "crocodile tears" apology that you posted earlier:

Craig Muhonen wrote:With all the thousands of words back and forth between Ernie and you on emails and texts, I was stuck in the middle and over reacted to both of you, and stepped in hoping I could "balance", but my stupidity only put a bigger wedge in between two people who I know were/are friends.
I know that you have good intentions and you took me under your "wing" and taught me everything I know about computers. You are a good teacher and underestimate yourself as such.
I apologize for disrespecting you in the way that I did, I was wrong, and there is no, "but" here, and straying into the political and psychological world, where I have no business.
We live in different worlds, not saying one is better, but I'm a Vietnam Veteran, a husband, father, grandfather, and now great grandfather, and plumber, and have my opinion about Hang Gliding, and the takeover by USHPA, and I will continue writing about that.
I'm going to shy away from the Torrey corruption issue, because I've overstepped my bounds, especially with you, my teacher.
You are a speaker, I am not, my only "speeches" were 40 years of asking people, "How can I help you".
Forgiveness comes from our Lord through Jesus, but I can ask for forgiveness from you.
We live in a world of, "humans seeking love and acting badly", and here I acted badly.

It was only a matter of time until you gave yourself away. Thanks for not making us wait too long.

To continue why I am still here.
Admit It.....Hang Gliding and Paragliding are a very small part of recreational society, and the political parts of them are apparent. Corruption in city government is also apparent but that issue should be left to the "experts" in Law, but PUBLIC SAFETY is the real "Top of Mind", and also admit that good people can always do more than one thing at a time, and Humans seeking love but acting poorly is part of everyday life.

Fix It........Send this "Public Safety" Petition to everyone on your contacts list, and to all city government officials.
https://www.change.org/p/two-crashes-si ... ing-system?
TWO CRASHES, 6 DEATHS !
FIX AMERICA'S BROKEN TRUCK LICENSING SYSTEM.

Prevent It....Keep sending this petition and make it part of your openings to city council until SD police department and their District Attorneys, and ICE, apprend, punish and deport these sometimes Illeagle Aliens. Full Stop.

Craig,

This topic is about "Guns and Paragliding". Yet you've posted about "No Kings", Erika Kirk, your own disingenuous apology, a quote from a loyal Torrey PG pilot with nothing about "Guns and Paragliding", and now about broken truck driver licensing practices. Furthermore, you tried to silence both Ernie and I from talking about the topic of "Guns and Paragliding" at the San Diego City Council.

I am not sure why you are continually trying to derail this topic, and I'm not sure why you are trying to suppress this discussion, but please stop. Thank you.
