Cel (celluloid) animation is a traditional hand-drawn filmmaking technique. Artists draw individual frames of characters or objects on transparent plastic sheets, paint the backs, and layer them over painted backgrounds. These layers are then photographed sequentially at 24 frames per second to create the illusion of movement.
Green Screening: The bright green color is keyed out, to become invisible pixels, through which you can see anything below in the stack. You can key out any color... green is a popular choice, but also blue, and I often key out black if someone used black as their background of a video. If you key out a color, it can not exist as a color in the image part you want to show, otherwise you will holes in your image.
Time Compression: It took a couple of hours of work on a computer to make this, because time compressing videos... is slow re-rendering... I crunched the documentaries using my max crunch setting up to 4 times... in other words, time compress a documentary video and render that out, feed that output back in and max time compress it again, and then feed that output back in and max time compress it again, and then feed that output back and max time compress it again. Use all three different outputs depending on how fast you want the video played in the final video... very fast at light speed in the beginning, then it slows down, slows down again, slows down in the middle, then speeds up, speeds up again, and speeds up to light speed at the end.
Video Editor: I use Sony Movie Studio 16, which is discontinued (by many years now ) consumer targeted and discounted version of Sony Vegas, but for all intents and purposes, it is Sony Vegas, with a whole lot of extra NewBlue transition plugins you can no longer buy without individually paying through the nose for. System is Ryzen 7950x / 128gb RAM / 3070 RTX with five bastard thrift store un-color corrected 1050p office flatscreen computer monitors (wish they were 1080p). I've got only myself, a couple of hundred bucks to bathe my brain in Dr Pepper, no film market in an industry that has tanked, and the attention span of just one afternoon and one night, but all the computer digital god tools in the world to make Dysnotopia...
