Ryan Voight, says "people suck" and we can all agree that many do. Ryan was specifically speaking of Blindrodie Gaar's response in discussion about platform towing proceedures at:

As that discussion is censored by lowest common denominator, Jack Axaopoulos,
it seems appropriate to explore the various aspects and expand on that discussion here.

Ryan made valid points on safe proceedure that fell on deaf ears of those that pretend to have more experience than they actually have. It's not a crime to be inexperienced but it is not good for the inexperienced to blow off constructive criticism from someone trying to help them because of ego or whatever.. Ryan's points were on target but he was frustrated by Gaar's resistance to constructive criticism.

What Ryan didn't know was that the person he was trying to communicate with was dishonest about his experience in the matter. Gaar was 'old heading' the more experienced pilot by deceptive statements and Ryan finally gave up.

Pilots in general are the losers in this game of egotism and deception.
Valid safety issues were blown off and a chance for others to learn were thwarted.

Maybe Jim Gaar could post that same GIF here so censored pilots can see it?

It would be nice if Ryan could also make his points without someone's ego getting in the way of other's safety.

I contacted the USHPA, to affirm my documented Charter Membership in USHGA, the original organization from which USHPA "spawned"...I called Colorado & spoke with the Treasurer of the "club"... he informed me , without a blink that the organization had no interest in extending an Honorary permanent membership to "anyone"...He further told me I could get a one year membership for payment to the USHPA of the annual "fee"...I explained to him that I could share very interesting and valuable first hand memories in detail about the oranization from the inception & creative brains of others who shared breath with me there & then...He said the monthly magazine of the USHPA had "NO INTEREST" in interviewing me about any first hand knowledge I have on the subject of the origins of the early 70's Hang Glider Sport Movement.
Dismayed , I was set aback by his rudeness and was not interested in throwing any of my precious finances into a black hole which seemed to be controled by an insane idiot with power but abolutely NO Wisdom at all...
If there is anyone here who would be interested in so of the many "fact" based first hand "stories" that I can share about my participation in the birth of the Peninsula Hnag Glider Club or the Sothern California Hang Glider Association , or what has now evolved into the current USHPA...contact me -

Hello Neil,

It would be a great honor for the US Hawks to host any of your first hand stories about the early history of hang gliding. Please feel free to post them as you see fit. I am also considering a newsletter which could include those kinds of articles as well, and that might be another avenue for sharing your history with the world.

Also, thanks for posting to this forum. We don't have many readers at this time, but I'm hoping we can grow as more people contribute perspectives that aren't available (or have been banned) from the other forums. I am disappointed (but not surprised) by USHPA's unwillingness to honor your Charter Membership. They're a business now. They make business decisions. Please come and be part of the US Hawks. We're not a business, and we make our decisions based on our members ... and not our members' money.

Hi Warren,

Sorry, I set up the forum to only allow about an hour to change / edit your posts. The history of what we say is important to me, and I don't like revisionist history. I can go back and make minor grammar changes if anyone would like that help, but I like the record to reflect what we said and when we said it. It turns out that the 1 hour change limit was established on HGAA and I supported it. But then they began changing the history of topics to suit them and that's what I protested.

I hope that helps explain my philosophy here. Please let me know your own thoughts.
