The Torrey Hawks club would like to announce our first "Meet the Pilots / Candidate Debate" events for our October and November Second Sundays (2013). Here's the invitation that I've sent to the other USHPA Region 3 Director Candidates (Rob, Corey, and Alan) this evening (with copies to Dan, USHPA, and others):
Hello Fellow USHPA Region 3 Director Candidates and others,
Our club, the Torrey Hawks Hang Gliding Club, would like to invite you for a "Meet the Pilots / Candidate Debate" at our monthly Club meetings on the Second Sundays of both October and November (October 13th, and November 10th).
I realize this is short notice for October's Second Sunday (this weekend), but I wanted to offer it in case you're unable to make it in November.
Also, as a fellow Candiate, I'd like to let you know that I will make every effort to attend any similar events that any of your local clubs might want to sponsor. I feel most pilots have no idea who their Directors are or what they stand for. I'd like to change that with regular "meet the pilots" events including some casual form of question/answer or debate format during these annual elections. I hope you'll join me in that effort so our members can have a better idea of who they're voting for. Please ask your local clubs if they would be willing to sponsor such an event.
Sincerely,
Bob Kuczewski
Region 3 Director Candidate

If you're involved with a USHPA Chapter (President, Board Member, or even a regular member), please consider making a similar request to the Regional Director candidates in your region. Directors are only up for election once every two years. Is it too much to ask for them to visit a few local chapters to discuss their views with the pilots they represent?
