That should have been good for a decent brain reboot.
I'm a little jealous.

It was probably the best flight of my life.

I'll be leaving San Diego for a while and I was very grateful to get that kind of flight just before my departure.

On a strong day like that, there were very few paragliders in the air. So it was almost like having it to myself. Actually the new Torrey Hawks president (Joe Spinney) was flying along with John Heiney and a few other HG friends. Joe likes to have fun in the air, and at one point I was flying with him down by "Horizons" and I lost sight of him. So I looked toward my shadow to see if I could spot him. I could see my own shadow far against the cliff above the La Jolla Farms lifeguard road. I could also see another shadow closing in on me from behind. I know Joe's a good pilot, so I just held my course and seconds later he buzzed past right below me.

If the US Hawks is going to be a national organization, it's time for me to visit the SW Texas HG Club and the new Mo Hawks club.

I've already visited the Tooele Hawks club several times, and I've visited the Lakeview Hawks as well. I don't want the midwest clubs to feel left out.

Another motivation is that I have relatives on the east coast including two parents who haven't seen me in a while. They're both getting on in years, and they could use someone around to help. So I think it's a good time to let the Joe and the rest of the Torrey Hawks continue rebuilding a strong hang gliding presence at Torrey. I've ruffled a lot of feathers these past few years, and I think there are a few powerful egos who don't want to see me "win". So they're punishing the Hawks to spite me. I think a new face at the helm will give their egos a "victory" while actually solidifying the position of the Hawks - and that's my main goal.
