Many forums have treated hang glider wire rope questions; those interested might trace those discussion. One poster urges others to leave the engineering to the engineers; HG users are urged to follow maintenance instructions carefully. However, understanding wire rope might help all parties. Replacement schedules may not be sufficient to respect special conditions and histories. And who knows which reader might become a HG engineer? Experimental HG building still lives. Note: Wire rope is not the only possible choice for ropes and cables in HGs; explore non-wire ropes and cables in other topic threads.

Feel free to summarize and study what has already surfaced in hang gliding literature.
Here is one topic thread that started by a wondering about flying wires: http://www.hanggliding.org/viewtopic.php?t=11000
