Happy Mother's Day to all Torrey Hawks!!
Today is also our Torrey Hawks Second Sunday for May, and the forecast looks pretty good for flying this afternoon.
The forecast shows the typical pattern of south wind in the morning becoming more westerly as the day progresses:
9am to 1pm: South wind from 8 to 12mph
2pm to 4pm: Southwest wind between 12 and 13mph
5pm to 6pm: West (straight in) at 10mph
7pm onward: West varying between 8 and 10mph
As always, be careful when launching in a southwest wind. The shape of the cliff can cause difficult launch conditions with wind from that direction.
I plan to be there in the afternoon with my Falcon 195 and a cooler full of snacks for the day. Please come join us. : )
Also, next Sunday (May 21st, 2017) we will be celebrating the 46th anniversary of the original "Otto Lilienthal Meet" which was held on May 23rd, 1971. This will be our third year of the event at Dockweiler beach, and it's been a lot of fun every time. The event will be free (parking is not), and everyone is invited to bring family and friends for a fun day of flight. Here are some links:
