Jack Axaopoulos Locks and Defaces Torrey Hawks Forum

There are always two sides to any disagreement, but that's never an excuse for a club's forum operator to hijack a club forum and post their own propaganda on the front page.

Unfortunately, that's exactly what Jack Axaopoulos has done to the Torrey Hawks Forum (torreyhawksforum.org).

Jack donated the Torrey Hawks forum to the club a few years back when he and I were on much better terms. But as we've found ourselves on different sides of various issues, Jack began making subtle (and not so subtle) hints that he might close the site down. In anticipation of this, I made several written requests for the posting history (database) of that site so I could move that history to a new site. I also offered to pay for the domain name that Jack had purchased (torreyhawksforum.org). Jack never responded to any of my requests, and instead, he has locked the forum to our club with no authorization from any of our board members. To make matters worse, Jack Axaopoulos is now using the Torrey Hawks Forum to post slanderous and defamatory messages about myself and other club members.

To put this in perspective, imagine if the USHPA web master decided to take over the USHPA web site and put defamatory messages on the front page. Can you imagine the legal ramifications?


At this point, I've contacted our current Torrey Hawks president Joe Spinney, and I'm awaiting his decision on what should be done. In the mean time, I will probably send out a message to our club members informing them that our forum has been hijacked and giving them the URL of our new forum here on US Hawks (ushawks.org).

Jack Axaopoulos Forges Forum Member's Posts

Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse, I went digging through some of the actual posts on the old TorreyHawksForum and I found that Jack had edited my own post to make it appear as if I was accusing myself of committing voter fraud!!! This crosses yet another line, and it demonstrates very clearly why a forum operator must be someone who can be trusted. I have no idea what else Jack has modified on our club's forum. At this point, none of it can be trusted because Jack himself can't be trusted.

Here's a short answer to start.. Jack Axaopoulos = "SG" on the 'banned of brothers' hg.org site and also known as "Bunny Boy" from the old days on the yahoo hg list.

Free is correct. Jack Axaopoulos operates hanggliding.org, and he goes by "sg" on that forum.

When I first founded the Torrey Hawks, I asked about some way to communicate among our club members and Jack offered to give us our own forum. At the time, I thought it was very generous, and I welcomed his help. So he set up torreyhawksforum.org and registered it under his own name. I was slightly concerned that it wasn't registered to the Hawks, but I had trusted Jack and so I didn't press the issue (my mistake).

That same pattern repeated itself when I started the HGAA. Jack volunteered to give us our own forum, and again, he registered the domain name and gave himself absolute control of the forum.

So when Jack and I found ourselves disagreeing, he used his power to control the HGAA forum and then the TorreyHawksForum. He kicked people off of the HGAA forum without any approval from the HGAA Transition Team, and he kicked people off of the Torrey Hawks forum without any approval from our Board (where I was President!!). He knew I'd raise these issues on hangglidng.org, and that's why he kicked me off there as well. Several people began asking to have me reinstated on hanggliding.org, and Jack sunk that topic to the basement right away (he can do that himself regardless of any vote count). Even with it in the basement and hidden from view, Jack locked that topic so no one else could comment. Since when does Jack lock topics in the basement? What is he afraid of down there?

I have offered to pay Jack for the registration of the TorreyHawksForum.org domain name so we could redirect that URL to this new forum and he's refused. I've asked him for our database so we could transfer those posts and PMs to this new forum, and he's refused that as well. Why? Why won't he give us our domain name and our member's posts?

If you go to torreyhawksforum.org right now you'll see that you cannot log in, and you'll also see that Jack has actually modified my own posts to make it look like I've accused myself of voter fraud. He's using our own forum as a billboard to smear me. That's about as unethical as a forum operator can get. Yet, this is the guy who runs hanggliding.org and who controls most of the communication between pilots in our sport. That's a scary situation.

Thanks for the information , Yes, I went to the old Torrey Hawks forum a while back and saw the damage. To Bad... We will just have to start over.Looking on the bright side you won't loose this forum to Jack.
