I know we normally conduct Second Sunday on Sunday, but Saturday (2/11) is looking like a potentially good flying day. Anyone else in favor?

If you'd like to reschedule the meeting for Saturday, please let me know ASAP so I can send out a message to the club.

It's definitely predicted to be the better flying day!!!

By the way, here's the current forecast for the week (including the weekend).

The graph shows 3 lines. The top one is a combination of the lower two and it shows the effective (lifting) component of the wind (basically the cosine of the angle from west times the speed). The lower two show the predicted speed and direction.

It looks like Saturday (the 11th) will be better for flying and Sunday (the 12th) will be better for politics.    ;)

Today was great (I flew my Falcon from 1:23pm to 3:24pm ... and many other Hawks flew much longer). Here's the history for the day:

Originally, Sunday didn't look as good, but the prediction for Sunday is now looking almost like the prediction for today (Saturday). So I'm thinking it will be another good day.

So please come out and fly with the Hawks on this Second Sunday!!

This It was great flying for most of the day, and we had a pretty good turnout. Here's my own list of the Torrey Hawks who were at Torrey today (I'm sorry if I've missed anyone):

  • Scott C.
  • Bob R.
  • Willie A.
  • Brain M.
  • Bob K.
  • John W.
  • Alex P.
  • Glen P.
  • Mike G.
  • John H.
  • Pat I.
  • Ernie C.

We held our normal informal meeting and discussed the Training Hill, the Gliderport Lease, the $100 tandem fee, and several other items related to the site.

I took quite a few photos, but I'll add them to Brian's post to keep all the photos together.

Thanks to everyone who stopped in. I hope to see you all again next month (March 11th) ... or sooner!!
