I'm sorry. You are way ahead of me - which is why I wanted YOU on the Transition Team!
I think we should end up with two topics on hanggliding.org:
1. A continued call for new Founding Members (and eventually regular members).
2. A topic that reflects what's going on with the HGAA just to keep it
visible for people who might be interested but who don't visit that
site so often. It might also help people to see that we're an open
organization and making positive progress.
Now you could leave the original Call for Leaders and Founders to
be #1 above. That's good because it will continue to contain all the
names and welcomes of new members who join through hanggliding.org
(both past and future). I like retaining that history of members in one
topic.
You could also leave the other topic as the "ongoing updates"
topic. But that's more up to your preferences. It doesn't fit that role
as well with its current history.

Actually,
the more I think about it, the more I think we should not merge them so
they'll show the history as it happened (sometimes they do reference
each other). So let's just keep the one where everyone signed up alive
and create new ones for specific purposes and lock the old ones when
we're done with them. You can even park them in the basement if we're
using up too much front page space. I appreciate that you've allowed so
many threads as it is. Thanks.

Not
to put more work on SG but it would be a lot easier if we could either
establish a completely seperate members forum where HGAA members could
log in and take care of biz, or setup a different site for the HGAA
members to log into and keep hanggliding.org free of HGAA voting
matters etc. It is a little confusing with the thread names etc.
I probably won't have much to say about who to vote for because I
don't really know many of the candidates, but I will help out where I
can and definitely pay dues to kick start this thing.
My 2cents.

But, here's my real contribution. I'll be the one who applies for
the San Diego Hang Gliding Permit so we can fly Torrey and pay exactly
the amount on the lease, last I saw, $5 and none of this $100 for a
tandem bullshit. |
I truly wish you the best of luck on that one KK.
Now Back to HGAA stuff.....
Edit- BTW Watch out as I hear the management there are now trying to get restraining orders on certain so called "trouble makers".

Let's not shut down this shop yet!
I've noticed a LARGE oversight in the founding/transition team members. There's not one woman in the group.
I would like to encourage as many of our women pilots as possible to
join the ranks of the founding members of this new Association. Also,
there is more than one woman pilot who I'd like to recommend for the
transition team.
But, as they say, you have to be in it - to win it.
What say you, ladies? It would be great to have some balance to our competitive male egos.

I'm having an issue. We got too many threads that overlap on the New Org. I can't figure out which one is covering what.
Lets condense some of these.

Hi Dennis,
I think once we elect a Chairman of the Transition Team that will help
bring some order to this process. Sorry it's been a bit of a mess, and
thanks for wading through it.

it's incredible. |

Hi oden,
I've added you to my own list on page 4 (post #77). At this point there
are so many lists floating around that I'm not sure which one is the
"official" list, but if you're on one of them, then I'm pretty sure
they'll all get merged once we have time to catch our breath.
These topics have really taken off and I think the HGAA is going to have wings!
Thanks for joining as a Founding Member!

I have been having the same thoughts, Dennis. I think we need to
create specific threads for unique topics - not jumble 2-3 of them all
together in one "flow of consciousness" thread. But we need a place
where 4-6 new threads won't all show up on the front page. SG may be
able to disconnect the (hanggliding.org) HGAA forum from the front page
(the favored idea) or we could use the basement - as I have proposed.
The final choice kind of depends on how long the "disconnect" process
takes.

I disconnected the front page.
The whirlwind of activity is exciting... it says something.
That said... I may have a good solution once we move to the HGAA forum for WORK stuff.
To get really focused, I will give the chair the sole power to create
new threads in the WORK forum. The chair will decide how many threads
in parallel MAX will be allowed so we stay focused on a prioritized
TODO list.

Thanks!!
I started a list on page 4 of this topic (post #77), and you're now on
it. That's just my own book keeping, and it's not the "official" list,
but every name on there will eventually end up on the official list of
Founding Members when we get it compiled.
You might also go to HGAA.org and sign up as a member. SG is
working on automating the process, but for now just sign in and send me
a PM over there if you like.
Thanks again. This is going to be quite an adventure.
